The boys both had end of the year programs. Luke got an "outstanding penmanship" award. Here he is with some of his classmates.
He also received a "contentment" characteristic award for not complaining at school.

Sam also had a graduation ceremony and was asked some questions about what his favorite things in school to do was and what he wanted to be when he grew up....this was his answer "Uhhhh?"

The whole class also recited Psalm 23....pretty amazing.

Sam was cheering on his brother while he learned to ride his bike without training wheels.
Luke tried over and over and over and fell and fell and fell. He wanted to start and stop all on his own. He finally curled up and started to cry after falling about 50 times. After a little break, he mastered it and was super excited.

I really liked decorating this room....and am loving all the little things that make it special.Horse made by Luke's Uncle Kaine for him.This little bench was my grandmother's...Luke drew this last summer. I thought it was quite impressive.My Grandpa rigged this arrow for his tractors so he could remember what row he had just plowed. I love it in this room and have so much fun rumaging through the barns to find these treasures! And here is the reason that other room can stay so clean.....keeping it real....

I have been reaping the benefits of my sister's camera!!! It is like I got a present too! These little boys are the shining light in my life....(get ready for mushy)...

I was sitting in church today with one of these guys on my lap and the other right next to me, and I began thinking how much they mean to me. What an incredible gift they are from my Heavenly Father and what an incredible responsibility I feel to raise them to the best of my ability. Yesterday was such a boy day to me in this family. Some days, I just can't wrap my head around what is is like to be a little boy...never sitting still...NEVER!...immediately going for the dirt in my good clothes just to have a laugh...thinking that anything having to do with bodily functions is jolly, roll on your belly funny! But I don't have to understand them, I just have to love them unconditionally and let them know I will always be here for them if they need me. Just like Jesus loves me. Merry Christmas to my little men...I love you!

Luke is 7! Time flies....
My niece really wanted to give him some beads for his birthday. So cute and she also wanted to dress in her super cute girlie dress with matching Hello Kitty necklace and princess hair clip. Poor thing is always surrounded by boys, but she busts out the girlie-ness too.
We also did an obstacle course with old tires since we were "Cars" themed.

My favorite part is the cake....I was looking forward to not only eating this cake all week, but decorating it too. Happy birthday Luke!! You are a shining light in our lives!

This bathroom is one of my favorite rooms. I love the colors and the little things that make it special.....

I found this first aid kit in my grandparents old boat, so fun!!

I made this plaque for Luke when he was a baby. This is one of my most favorite songs by the Dixie Chicks and the words are just right for boys.

Each of the boys have this saying above their mirrors....reminders to all of us how unique we are and how loved we are by God.

This is Luke and Sam....country boys, dirty boys, loud boys, usually naked boys and best buddies.

One of the other reasons I love this room is because it is quite easy to clean. I absolutley hate cleaning bathrooms, but this one isn't so bad. I always wanted subway tiles and wainscoating and love the pegs in here to hang towels on. I also love the tile on the counters, which is something I usually wouldn't pick; but wanted this to be a really fun room. Coming up: my least favorite room!

I love living out in the country...especially on my parents farm. This is the view from my kitchen and I have lots of windows everywhere.

One of our highlights is getting to do anything we want in out jammies...like taking walks, and what country boy doesn't carry a big stick when he is walking!

One of these underoos is Rusty's and Luke was wearing them and he asked the other day to have them back because he really is particular about his underwear, but I don't have the heart to tell him the puppy took off with them somewhere and I have no idea where they are!! Sam Story Mania

Sam turned five yesterday and said he didn't feel five...this morning I asked him again and he said, "I feel a little more five today". He woke me up at 5:30 yesterday morning. He was keeping with the "five" theme by waking in the 5 o' clock hour, how sweet! He has the greatest smile...and always gives me five kisses (again the "five" theme)

His nicknames are Sammers, Sam-Bam, Bammers, Bubba, Sam Bill.

He loves to be with his big brother, he walks just like me, looks like his "vavi", has the best hair.

Makes the silliest faces, puts together some interesting outfits, gets really embarrased if people see him without his shirt on. (and yet most of the pictures I have of him are shirtless)

Thank you, Sam, for making this life so fun and interesting. You always make me laugh! Thank you, Jesus, for giving him too this family. Happy "fifth" birthday little man.

Man-Sponge Saves the Day!!

This book cracks me up every time I read it to the boys....it is such a boy's book...so I thought I would share it with all of you. The local superheroes go out of town and leave SpongeBob in charge..."Feel free to borrow the invisible bicycle-if you can find it." (if that doesn't crack you up right there)Three hours later, SpongeBob finds the bicycle, but only to realize that all the bad guys have come into town (knowing that Barnacle Boy and Mermaid Man are out of town). SpongeBob to the rescue as......Man Sponge!!! (notice the costume: insect net, rubber gloves, superhero cape, and starfish to disguise his true identity) (try recreating that with two little boys!)The bad guys are reeking havoc on the town by.....popping bubble wrap in the library (gast!!) and ringing doorbells and running away (yikes!!). "Freeze!!" yells Man Sponge. But no one froze. (well...yeah!) He finds the master mind bad guy and catches him with, none other than......his underpants, of course!!!! (the boys laugh hysterically at this point)

Man Sponge saves the day!!!! Cracks me up every time!

Vavi Day

Yes...this is me, in the snow, in flip-flops! Quite a new experience and very slippery. I was sure I would eat it and all my boys would laugh at me, but I managed to stay upright!

The little men were sooooo excited to see some snow, even though we weren't quite prepared for it. I have a hard time thinking there is snow in the mountains when it was such a warm, sunny day in the valley....at least I brought jackets.

Just a tip: the car defroster will dry out wet shoes and sock in about an hour...

I just found this delightful coffee mug at my favorite hang-out...Target! I became a coffee drinker over this past year and love to have cute things...so it all is working out tremendously. The last two times I have been to Target, in the check-out line they have asked me what the price was on one of my purchases. I was thinking to myself...wow!, I could really get some things pretty cheap if I just told them what I was willing to pay for these items. They usually just trust the price I tell them. What a deal! I have also been slacking some on my blogging, mostly because when I go to take pictures my camera is usually out of batteries and this is because Sam has become quite the picture taker and uses up the batteries. Your thoughts may be to not let Sam use my expensive camera as a toy, and that would be the logical solution; alas, I don't seem to operate this way. So when I feel motivated to change the batteries and take some pictures...you all will benefit from my wonderful words of wisdom and my witty cander. For now you have to put up with my ramblings (because I think I had too much coffee this morning!!)

The Seven Dwarfs

We have embarked on a new adventure around here...puppies! We have seven and Sam wanted to name them all after the Seven Dwarfs (although I can't remember all their names!) Maggie did really well delivering...although the first one was delivered on MY COUCH!!!! Yes...my worst nightmare realized. We didn't even know she was in labor until I heard the baby crying, ran out to the living room and started screaming! From 3:00am to 12:00pm she had babies (thank goodness Travis was not working on this day and I was...because I really didn't want to see that part). Luke thought it all was fascinating and would encourage Maggie....so sweet!

So... the little men in my life are OBSESSED with playing Super Mario Brothers Wii game. I know not all of my many followers (ha!ha!) agree with letting your children spend so much time in front of the tv....but you guys know me, I have no problem with it....and while I sit in front of the computer (when I should be cleaning the nasty bathrooms!), I am hearing these two buddies encourage each other in their playing "You did it"..."YES!!"..."Come on, you can do it"... "I will carry you to the next level"..."We can do it together!" . These times when they help each other and encourage each other just make me so proud of them....is it possible to be so proud of your kids for playing a video game?! It reminds me in a weird way that Jesus does the same things for us..."You can do it"..."I will carry you"..."We can do it together!"....what a mighty God we serve. He gives me these two boys to remind me about the big picture in life (even if it comes through Super Mario Brothers!!)...

I love mornings where we can laze around in our jammies... It is a little hard to laze around when a 100 pound dog is needing some attention!!

It has been a fun-filled, but relaxing holiday weekend. I got my fill on mashed potatoes, warm rolls and pumpkin pie (all my favorites)...although my hubby deep-pitted our turkey this year and it was amazing!!! that may be my new favorite Thanksgiving dish. 18 foot slides, decorating Christmas ornaments, small town parade, putting up the Christmas tree...lots of good stuff!!

Spooktacular!!

Luke's sixth birthday was a costume Halloween theme. My mother-in-law helped me with the party and did all the decorations and activites. We had alot of activities....pumpkin carving, paper bag puppets, monster matching, popcorn ball making and we didn't even get to all the games she planned. Thank you to my mother-in-law for all her hard work! Some of the pumpkins we decorated.

I made these monster treats for the kids to eat. It is green pudding and crushed oreo's. I think I was more excited than they were about it. It was a fun evening!!

Six Sticks!!!!!!

My little man is six years old today!! He is all the "firsts" for me. The incredible feelings and emotions that come with parenthood were all experienced first with this little boy. His story starts out with a bang!! Grace turned into Luke. Here he is.... He is my dirty man....if there is dirt anywhere within a 15 foot radius; he will find it. This took me a long time to deal with and get over! It would drive me crazy at first, but he has taught me that clothes are washable and bathtubs are my best friend.....and not to be so OCD all the time; to let him experience things in his own way.

He loves Disneyland, just like me...and he is starting to get really brave on the roller coasters. It makes me so happy to go on some cool rides with him...he just needs to grow so we can meet the heighth requirement!

He loves to play dress up and "be" the character. If he is watching anything on tv...he gets that character to play with while he is watching the show. He is really creative in this way. He gets into his own world and imagines....

This picture is Luke to the core...multi-tasking (especially when it comes to sweets)...he takes after me in this way. He loves cookies and ice cream (me too!!!!). He also always gets holes in the left knee of his pants...never the right?!

He is the light of my life! Jesus gives us such amazing gifts!! He has the most contagious laugh, is a good friend to his brother (and his little cousin Rusty), practices something until he masters it, has some mad gymnast, ninja moves, likes a good beat he can dance too, and has melted my heart to his!! Happy birthday Luke Joe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everywhere I peruse (I have no idea if that is how you spell peruse, but I am trying to sound educated and am too lazy to look in a dictionary, but want to use a cool word to say: I have been looking at a lot of blogs today for no apparent reason other that to occupy my time and checking facebook every half hour)....everywhere I have perused (huh?huh?) lately, I see these amazing pictures these moms have taken to put on their blogs or facebook pages. Have I missed the free tutorial on photo 101 for blogger/facebook moms? If someone else was taking this picture above....the background would be artistically blurred and the pine cone in focus, the lighting would be much better, and there would be a magical glow about the whole picture. I just want to know how they do this?? Am I missing the obvious or do my picture taking skills really lack that much needed enthusiasm...

Today was the first of many Saturday's at the soccer complex. From 8:30 to 1:00, I watched my two little guys score some goals (not always on their team's goal), inhale snow cones, and get thoroughly drenched from sweat (nice....them and myself). I don't know the first thing about soccer, but have the feeling that I am going to learn fast. Thanks to all the grandparents who showed up to support the boys. You guys are awesome!

Sam started off his first game with a goal.....only a minute into the game. He was really proud of himself, I could see that (I can't believe I just did that!!!) face....priceless.

Luke is lightning fast and really tries....and was so excited when he scored a goal....but pretty heartbroken when he realized it was for the other team! I could see the slump in his shoulders and was preparing myself for the crying about to unleash, but he held it together (he is very competitive) and went on with trying his best. I was extremely proud of him!!

I am sitting in the sun and soaked through, but have the biggest smile on my face....I realize that the boys are learning life long lessons in what it takes to have humility, learn teamwork, and not always have things go the way you want. I am looking at my hubby who is coaching one son's team and reffing the other son's team, who is also soaked through and is graciously giving up his last bottled water to a parched 5 year old....and I realize what a good man and dad he is! There are alot of other things that need to be done these Saturday mornings, but there is nothing more important than spending time with my guys....the yard work, laundry, cleaning can wait!!! I may need another snow cone!

Travis was teaching the boys how to play war this weekend....they loved it and really wanted to learn how to shuffle and deal out the cards....maybe a future career path!!?? Travis would probably like that...

Sam was so cute trying to learn how to shuffle...he was so impressed that daddy could shuffle like a "bridge"....but even more impressed when mommy came along and shuffled like that too!

Sam melts my heart when he asks his brother, "So, how was your first day?".....he is so thoughtful! As I walked into Staples after I dropped them off...all by myself; it hit me...these days are precious with them. They are such a gift from God!

This is how I found Sam the other afternoon.....the music blarring (volume all the way maxed out). I could here the music from the other room....my question is....how could anyone fall asleep with this noise! I'll tell you (because I know you are on pins and needles), only the V. boys could. This is how Travis falls asleep at night...the i-pod or the tv on. I am constantly surrounded by noise...and it is such useless noise to me. Only late at night or early in the morning can I be still in the silence before or after the noise has consummed my life!!

so...we got together with some good friends the other day for a visit and ended up doing some couples crafting. if you have never tried it...it was really fun...give it a try. the guys were even into it and were coming up with some creative things. thanks guys for your enthusiasm.freezer paper shirts were on the agenda and they are pretty awesome in my opinion.

Luke has decided that loosing teeth is highly over-rated and has decided to inform the tooth fairy that he won't be needing her services anymore!

...well maybe if she keeps bringing me money, it is okay.

There has been so much drama with this whole tooth thing...nobody warned me about tooth drama!! Luke will not brush any teeth within the vacinity of a loose tooth; he will not chew anything in the vacinity of a loose tooth (so everything goes in his mouth through the side with skid marks along his cheeks to prove it) (corn on the cob has been very challenging); Luke will not let me wipe his face or dry his face after bathtime because he is afraid his tooth will fall out! Really....so I had to take matters into my own hands and pull the sucker when he was sleeping, thinking that would end the drama....nope!! still won't let anything near the hole in his mouth. oh well! Two more years of tooth drama to follow!!

so...i have been wanting to do this post for a while now. my sister keeps sending me links to these amazing moms who blog about their lives as mothers who: cook organically, make everything from scratch (clothes and food), reupolster or paint old furniture to save money, clip coupons, make charts for their daily chores, have daily crafts projects to do with their kids, teach their children to read and write before the age of three, have weekly trips to the library to pick out books to read for the week, have their own home business to help out money wise, grow their own veggies in their beautiful garden.......

i have been getting pretty depressed reading all these blogs...i have decided to have a blog protest...in honor of my protest, i am showing you a day in the life of the vickers' household...beware, you will see no homemade crafting here!!! the above picture is my laundry room right now...i HATE laundry (is it really that hard! it is not like i am going out to the river to beat the clothes on a rock with my homemade bar of soap, then take them back to the log cabin to hang the wash on the clothes line) why is it so challenging for me?

here is my homemade dinner that i threw in the crockpot this morning...pretty good planning i thought (patting myself on the back), but when i was doing some more preperation for our dinner...this crockpot meal was grossing me out!! and i was really in the mood for....
PIZZA!!! what do you think happened to that lovely homemade dinner that i spent good money on at the store......in...the...trash!!

this is a typical early morning, mid morning, lunch hour, early afternoon, late afternoon, bedtime routine....i have no tinklings of guilt letting my kids watch tv, and they watch alot of tv...and i don't feel guilty about that. you may also notice they are watching spongebob, which i told myself i would never let them watch...but the stomach churning laughter from them melts my heart...and i give in (it doesn't take much to get me to give in).

i very often find remnants of candy and other cracker, granola bars (does that count as "health food"), sticky gooey messes that i am not even sure what it was by the couch and on the floor aroung the couch throughout the day...you may wonder why i am finding them after the consumption has already occured...that is usually because i am either on the phone, computer, or watching a movie or reading a book somewhere else in the house while the consumption is taking place....no planned craft time, quiet time, reading books time in this household (that would mean i would actually have to put some effort into something)

some more fun facts:

* the boys usually fall asleep on the couch watching.....wait for it.........TV!! i always think the later they fall asleep, the later they will wake up in the morning (although this has not worked yet, in five years so far...but i keep on trying and hoping)

*we rotate three meals in this house: tacos, spagetti, and tri-tip...the rest of the days include cereal, mac and cheese, and frozen waffles!!!

*my idea of quality family time at home is watching a movie together and not watching seperate movies in seperate tv's in the house

*my three tv's in the house are rarely OFF!

*your lucky to get your tidy-whiteys laundered, but don't even expect them to go back into your drawer

*i will read you a book (but you might have to ask three or four times)

*my standard answer to "can we watch......" is YES!!

*if a button falls off a shirt....yikes! you either have to wear it without buttoning it...or it gets thrown away

* i do have coupons, but rarely pull them out of my wallet to actually use them

* if a bowl has been in the fridge for a looooonnnngggg time and is really moldy, i will throw the whole thing away and not even mess with trying to clean it...my mom always asks me "where is all your tupperware??"......secrets out!

so if anyone else is in the mood for some blog protesting....bring it on!! i have to go put the boys in their bed since they are asleep on the couch...and then i will probably watch a movie!!!!!

Be Still and Know that I am God

What sweet memories were made this weekend at our church family camp. The boys were literally running everywhere they went...I was trying to catch up in flipflops.

After talking about fishing for two days and practicing their casts into the grass at home.......the long awaited TEN MINUTES of fishing was all that could catch their attention when they saw the paddle boats go by and they HAD to go on them!!

I have memories on this exact swing when I was 4 and 5 years old (pictures to prove it too). I have been coming to this camp for 34 years and now I get to bring my boys. Thank you, Travis, for knowing how important this is to me and for making it important for you too!

Too much activity...you would think he was sleeping in the afternoon here, but no this was about 10:30 in the morning...does that tell you anything about the activity level?
This is how Luke was absorbing the words of wisdom imparted from our good friend Ben who was the speaker at camp....maybe upside-down brings it to the heart faster??...if you see me sitting upside-down in church next week.........

Going up the mountain into God's creation is always so refreshing, it allows me to put everything else aside it this crazy life and focus on the real reason we were put on this earth...to praise the Lord and be with Him. Be still........

Just Hangin Around

The boys were playing awfully quiet the other day...so I went to check on the mischief being had...this is what they were up to. Hanging all their stuffed animals from the slats in the bunk beds...when I walked in to see, they were soooo proud of themselves. They actually kept it like that for two days (unheard of in this household, I usually set something up for them like train tracks that take 15 minutes to set up and is destroyed in 2 minutes).

To have that imagination again...and to fing joy in the simplest things...Lord, give me that joy!

We arrived home from town the other night...being gone about 4 hours...and the dog was accidently left in the house....this is the evidence of her frustration.....

So, every time I put my glasses on now.....the plastic shards sticking out scrape the side of my face and get tangled in my hair. Next time you see me and I am wincing in pain....you know the reason without even asking......dog mauling!!

Cinco de Mayo

Today my baby boy is four!! He is such a joy....never a dull moment with him. He makes the greatest faces ALL the time....he loves to play dress up....and comes up with the greatest costumes....he loves to dance and rock out on his guitar...he is harder to get kisses from, but I steal them anyway.....he makes friends easily....adapts to wherever he is.....kinda goes with the flow.

The day he was born, I was expecting a mini-Luke; he has always looked completely different from Luke. The Lord had a master plan in all that...who would want two of the same person! He is truly unique and the Lord has blessed him with many gifts. Not too many surprises with Sam...I always knew he was a boy (unlike Luke)!

The gift of children is so intense. The Lord knew we could never understand unconditional love without experiencing it, so he gave us children to raise and be responsible for. Think of how much He loves us!!! "Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him." Psalm 127:3 Happy birthday little man, I love you forever!!

Why Are Boys So Messy??!!

You may be able to see that these are my clothes, but my little "costume wearers" like to get in my closet and rumage up some cool costumes....then after 5 minutes they are strewn out on the floor. My bed is rarely made for longer that half an hour because they think it is soooo fun to mess up mommy's bed! I don't see the humor and am usually yelling at this point (maybe that is what is funny to them)!

I don't know the Lord's ultimate wisdom, but sometimes it baffles me that He gave me boys. I love them to death, and wouldn't want life with them any other way, BUT I just don't get boys. If I leave them to their own accord (meaning, I am not going behind them cleaning up every half hour)....this is what happens. I just feel the OCD coming over me like a wave. There are a few things I need to just get over!....their drawers will never be clean....their crayons will never go neatly back into the boxes the way they came out....playdo is one time usage because they put the most disguisting things in them....I will always be on them to clean up....but, they give the best hugs and kisses and they love me unconditionally!!Drawers are always left open, and torn through like they were in such a hurry to get what they needed...the whole time yelling "Mom, where is my favorite marker?"!!!

The only sense of order I have control over any more is the kitchen sink.....How sad is that!! The only reason for this is that none of the men in my life want anything to do with the kitchen sink....so I keep it nice and tidy and look at it with a sigh of relief!

The men in my life are addicted to playing video games. I don't know if it is a male thing, but I don't get it!! I never got into them, but seriously, they are ADDICTED! They all zone out, and ignore my questions; so I have given up trying to talk when they are playing. At least the boys games are teaching them to spell and count ( that makes me feel better right?).

Monkeyin' Around

After the train trip, we headed over to the zoo. Luke and Sam liked the giraffes and monkeys the best. Travis' "Silverback" impression!

I have been asking Travis if we could go to the zoo for a long time. We have a great little zoo, and saw the winged wonders show, which was pretty cool. It was a great day!

My dad and I ventured on a little adventure on the train to Fresno. This was the first train ride for all the kiddos.They were eagerly anticipating the arrival of the train, but a little apprehensive. We waited inside so it wasn't too noisy.

When we first got on Sam exclaimed "Oh My Goodness!!!" I think they had a great time. Papa even took them one at a time through the doors to the next car. They liked that.

Not according to my pictures!! I didn't get a single picture of the guys on bikes (the whole reason we were there!). Mostly because Sam was taking the pictures and he thought the motorcycles were waaaay better. Later he and Luke asked if I liked the big bikes or the little bikes better. I think they thought they were all the same just different sizes! I am sure Levi would have rather been on the motorcycle!

I live out in the country, and so I drive by a lot of dairies. BUT, I have never seen a herd of cattle swarming around a piece of earth moving equipment before. I had to turn around and check it out again and luckily I had my handy-dandy camera! A few of the cows were even licking the front-loader, which reminded me of my niece who has a tendency to lick the oddest things!

Lazy Dayz

I love Saturday afternoons like this! Everyone crashed out (in our bed).
Including the dog (yes, she is sleeping on the couch)! I didn't have the energy to drag her off, and was just so happy for the peace and quiet.

Our Christmas present to the boys this Christmas was a Wii. This is usually what they look like in the evenings playing with daddy. Luke has gotten really good at boling, and has made pro status, which means he gets to play with a "sparkly" ball. Both the boys call getting strikes "stripes".

10 Years!!

Travis and I just celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary. We were blessed to go back to Disneyland, which is where we spent our honeymoon.

Ten years ago! Happy-go-lucky and not a care in the world.
Ten years later! A little worn-out, not quite so carefree; but, blessed by our Lord, healthy, and with two beautiful little boys (who tagged along on the trip).

I continue to pray that we can tackle whatever the Lord throws our way. That He will give us the strength to move forward and to rely completely on Him. I also pray that we can hide His word in our hearts, and remember the life lessons He has taught us. May the Lord bless all you friends and family this coming year.

Dance Party & Announcer Training

Evenings can be a little crazy around here at times, but one of our favorite things to do is crank the music loud and have a dance party. The boys come up with some pretty interesting moves! (I guess, so do mom and dad!!)

I realized last night that I am surrounded be testosterone at all times. I was sitting quietly writing out some Christmas cards at the kitchen table. In the midst, Luke and Sam are wrestling in the living room, and Travis is practicing his best announcers voice for the next heavyweight boxing championship bout in the kitchen. He practices often ( I think he is expecting the call anytime)! I just had to laugh to myself, and hope no one comes peeking through our windows.

Jesus Vs. Santa

One of the hardest things to do this time of year is to keep the emphasis on the perfect gift of Jesus, and not on Santa. This has been challenging with the boys. How could it not when they can see pictures of Santa everywhere! It is hard to grasp faith in something you can't see at such a young age, but the MOST important time to try and explain it.

We came home from church this afternoon, and Travis' stomach was upset. He asked Sam to pray for him. Sam says, "Dear Jesus, Please send Santa to listen to daddy's tummy and make it feel better. Jesus, God, We love you, Amen."

Sam and Luke enjoy getting a hold of the camera and taking their own pictures. Here is what they enjoy taking pictures of!

Luke was completely amazed that we had all three of these cars in ornaments!! He insisted on putting them right next to each other.

Sam thought it was funny to shove the camera into the tree and take a picture, this one was kinda cool.
Most of the ornaments are on the bottom center portion of the tree, but this was a great memory to have of the boys really participating in a tradition that Travis and I started 10 years ago. These two little, innocent souls inspire me to be the mom they need and the woman of God it takes to raise men in this world! I love you two sooooo much!!!

One of our favorite traditions is getting our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving. This year was exceptionally fun because the boys are much more aware of the traditions and enjoy helping. I am not sure what was more fun: decorating the tree or posing for pictures!!

The only snow we will see

The boys have been asking what snow looks like. One of my friends e-mailed me a blog sight that has alot of kids crafts. This one looked manageable to me, and alot of fun for the boys. Anything that has to do with glue and making a mess, they are all in for!! We made the snowflakes out of q-tips and glued them together, added glitter and let them dry.

Sam was more interested in making glue artwork!!

This was a fun craft, and since we are having a pretty lazy day (except trying to catch up with the laundry), I thought it would be a fun time to attempt!

Finger Lickin' Good

The boys and I surprised daddy with some homemade brownies (his favorite). The boys both love to help me make cakes or muffins, and they get so excited pouring most of the ingredients in the bowl! Sam is wearing an apron that my aunt made for me when I was a little girl! Luke is wearing one he made in Community Bible Study last year.

The best part of brownie making!!Sam is the baker and waits patiently with his hot glove to remove the brownies.

I started teaching some classes at the gym about a year ago, one of them being a spinning (cycle) class. My family has been my support system, especially Steph, who give constructive criticism and lots of encouragement! I make them come to classes in rain, hail, sleet or snow! Here they are (Todd, Steph and my dad) at one of my classes. They always have a smile no matter what I put them through! Thanks guys!

Maggie May

We have a new addition to the family. Her name is Maggie and she is a Great Dane. She has been really good, except for the occasional accident in the house. She has helped keep things more tidy, since you can't leave any shoes or clothes out for fear of bite marks!

The boys took a few days to get used to her, but now they have initiated her one of them. Finally another girl in the house. I insisted on a pink collar!

Spiderman and His Amazing Friends

We had a birthday celebration for Luke last weekend too! He is "5" already, and really into SpiderMan. What is it with boys and superheroes?! We kept it small with just cousins, but even then it is pretty big.

Luke's best Spidee imitation! He actually has some pretty good moves. He could either be a gymnist or into karate. I think daddy is leaning towards karate for some reason!!

Pumpkins and Trains

We went to HillCrest Pumpkin Patch last weekend. It was such a blast! We rode the steam train, climbed the tree house, and barely made it across the rope bridge ( this was because Travis and Luke thought it would be funny to bounce across it while I am holding Sam, very challenging to do!). So many photo opportunites, I was running around! Say Cheese!

Travis does everything BIG! He usually goes all out, so he let the boys pick the biggest pumpkins they could find. Needless to say, we had to wagon them to our car.

Nothin like wearing two different Halloween costumes on the SAME day. We had two different parties this day, and the boys wanted to be different characters for each party. You can see Spiderman (with my niece as Ariel).

Travis and Sam love to watch the 'Back to the Future' movies. Sam wanted to be Marty McFly this Halloween. Here is what we came up with.

Eat your heart out ladies!!!For our next party, they wanted to be characters from the 'Arthur and the Invisibles' movie. Here is our homemade works of art. (Do you think we watch alot of movies??!!)

Travis' mom does a pumkin patch party every year and goes all out! She has pumpkins to decorate, crafts to paint, create and glue. She even had a hay ride this year. Here are all the participants who dressed up, the rest were fuddy-duddies!

School Days

My baby is in pre-school! He was quite excited about starting! Of course Sam couldn't let him get away with having a picture by himself. He is such the poser! I thought this would be a great bonding time for Sam and I, but all I hear from him is "When's Luke comin home?".

Here is a typical summer day at our house. I have resigned to the fact that everytime we play outside, we have to de-mud to come back inside. This took me a while to adjust to, but the hours of fun for the boys is worth it to me!
